Teyfant Moves On

Making Web Pages To upload our Stories

We made some stories with photos from our new school building site, using 2 create a story.  We saved them, and then changed them into a special slide show format, so we could put on the internet.  One of our teachers showed us how to use some software called Front Page, to put these files onto the internet.   I think it was interesting because we had to use special tools, that we had never seen before.

Work Is Well Underway

This is a photograph of the new school from the air.  As you can see it is getting on well and Skanska now think that they will be finnished in January 2008 when they first of all thought, it would take a year longer until January 2009.  The ground is muddy, but you can already see the shape and size of our new school drawn in the ground, that has been dug.

Our First Entry As Promised…

First, we chose eight people to question: Mr Grimshaw, School governors, parent from Teyfant Community School, Builder, Hartcliffe School student, Hartcliffe School teacher and the New Fosseway representative. Secondly, Steve Gear (calling the shots) came in and showed us how to use the digital camera as we will be taking photos of people. We learnt Landscape, portrait and the main features of a camera.  After, we had talked about the cameras, we went outside and took three photos. One was of a landscape, a portrait of someone and a picture of a tree either vertical or horizontal. Once we had finished, we took more photos of the fencing which divides our present school with the new one!

Our Project Gets Started

For the last two weeks, we have been planning and thinking together about the kinds of things we might include in our new project website and what they might look like when we publish.  We have had camera workshops with Steve from Calling The Shots, and begun learning how to use digital cameras, thinking about how to frame good photographs, and how to download these to be edited on the computer.  We have also been drafting and editing blog entries.  Next week we should be uploading our first web diary entries, and be able to show you some of the things that are going on around the site.  See you soon.

Welcome

This is the first post on our new blog.  We will be using these pages to help us document the building of our new school.

The Campus In 2004-5

This first aerial photograph, was stitched together from images captured at Microsoft Live Maps.  It shows what the site looked like before some of the buildings on the campus were demoloshed.

Our second, interactive map, from Quikmaps.com, is tagged to show our School Site as it was when building work began.

We hope you will come back to visit us soon.
